Appointment time was for 12:30 didn’t start my daughter hair until a little after 1PM. It’s 7:23 PM on a Monday and she’s still not completed with her medium size box braids. The owner makes prices as she goes there’s NO PRICE list. Unprofessional, takes several hours when the normal time frame for this body of work is 3-4 hours. Please do not waste your time supporting this business !
An appointment is always recommended because braiders may not always be available if you walk-in. Prices are about standard. My first style was a Cornrow halo braid (Simple & elegant). My second Style was cornrows in an updo (Simple) paid under $100. Hair products are not sold here. Feel free to bring along products that work with your hair best. This shop is 1 minutes away from the Hempstead bus terminal and 3-4 minute walk from train station.
The ladies there do a good job, it can be very expensive especially when you have to do 2 teens at once. My only problem is that sometimes they tend to not listen to exactly what you want; many times I asked them to make it shorter and they never do. I also wish that they'll let 2 people do the hair so I wouldn't spend 7 hours there ☹

Bibi African Hair Braiding Salon is one of the best hair braiding hair salon in Hempstead. They hair braiding stylists are very patient and do excellent work. They braid hair very neat and they do great hair designs. I highly recommend Bibi African Hair Braiding Salon.
This was the first time I ever got my hair done by someone else that wasn’t myself (hand issues). Had appointment for 2pm, arrived at 1:58pm… I was not seated until 3:15pm. I asked for medium box braids mid back (was quoted 160$ Over the phone) the lady then says it’s 200$ When I reiterated the size and length. The woman doing my hair couldn’t do a straight middle part so she asked another woman to part (I checked and verified-she did it perfectly) I’m watching a movie on my phone and I look up about 15 minutes after and the 1st woman reparted the middle and the part was no longer straight (HIGHLY ANNOYED w/ this). I asked for roughly 40 braids bc I didn’t want it to be so heavy if there were more… I ended up leaving with 69 bc she didn’t care to listen and it was not parted properly. The place is dirty and extremely cluttered. I didn’t end up finishing until 9pm and 2 other women had to step in to help finish bc the lady was NOWHERE near done by 7:30ish. The 1st lady then had the audacity to say to one of the other women that I will need to do the hot water and trimmings at home. Needless to say; I will not be returning. Unprofessional, unpunctual, and terrible service. *she also had the audacity to scoff at not receiving a tip when the money was handed to her after counting the money in my face.
